Trickhouse Live: An Integrative Arts and Performance Series

Trickhouse Live is co-organized by TC Tolbert, Assistant Director of Casa Libre; and Noah Saterstrom, founder/curator of Trickhouse.org; and Laynie Browne.

Trickhouse Live is an integrative arts series that brings together people working with words, images, sounds, videos, and a variety of performances. The series serves as a venue for visiting artists to interact with local artists and for the borders between genres and mediums to be permeable. Trickhouse Live is a physical world extension of the online cross-genre arts journal, Trickhouse.org which is based in Tucson.

Reader Bios

Layli Long Soldier holds a BFA in creative writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts. She is a two-time recipient of the Truman Capote Creative Writing Fellowship. She is also a recipient of the Naropa University’s 2009 Summer Writing Program Scholarship. She has served as editor-in-chief for “Native Language Network” and other publications for the Indigenous Language Institute in Santa Fe, NM. She currently resides in Tsaile, AZ on the Navajo reservation and teaches at Dine’ College. Whenever possible, she writes and plays music. And her first chapbook of poetry is titled, Chromosomory (Q Ave Press, 2010).

Deborah Poe is assistant professor of English at Pace University, fiction editor of the international online journal of the arts, Drunken Boat and guest curator/editor for Trickhouse's "Experiment" door 2010/2011.

Deborah is the author of the poetry collections Elements (Stockport Flats Press 2010) and Our Parenthetical Ontology (CustomWords 2008). She has received several literary awards including several Pushcart Prize nominations for her poetry and the Thayer Fellowship of the Arts (2008) for her poetry and fiction.

Deborah’s writing is forthcoming or has appeared in Colorado Review, Sidebrow, Ploughshares, Filter Literary Journal, Denver Quarterly, Copper Nickel and other journals as well as in the anthologies In Our Own Words (MWE 2010), A Sing Economy (Flim Forum 2008) and Fingernails Across the Chalkboard: Poetry and Prose on HIV/AIDS From the Black Diaspora (Third World Press 2007). Deborah is also co-editor of the short fiction anthology, provisionally entitled “Between Worlds,” with her colleague Ama Wattley.
