Casa Libre can only survive one way—with consistent support and help from our friends and neighbors. Your donations help keep the writing suites furnished, lit, heated and cooled, keep the pool spa and grounds maintained, and keep the high-speed internet and cable TV for the suites running. Casa Libre uses your donations mainly to pay the utilities and leases for each suite. Once these things are taken care of, we can continue to provide writing suites to non-profits and struggling writers, and continue to offer interesting new classes, workshops and readings.
If you have been to one of our many readings, classes, or attended our recent First Annual Summer Suite Sponsor Soiree, you know what Casa Libre is and you want it to stay in Tucson and survive. We are one of the first and only writers' residencies in Arizona, and we hope that with your help we will continue to thrive as a source of inspiration and pride in our community. At Casa Libre, we not only provide the room, we also provide other important resources, such as highspeed internet, a special reference library, housekeeping services, and inspirational outdoor spaces, to support the work and creativity of writers and non-profit groups. With a monthly pledge, you can help facilitate the space necessary for writers to utilize these resources, and you can help provide scholarships (see brochure) for future writers in residence.
As of July 4, 2006 we recieve $350 per month in Suite Sponsor donations from 12 Suite Sponsors. Their contributions range from $10 to $100 per month. For our 2006-2007 fiscal year we are working to raise $2000 per month in Suite Sponsor donations. We must meet this fundraising goal to continue offering the suites to writers at no cost. We also get support from grants and individual donations, but the heart of our fundraising drive is our Suite Sponsorship program.
We offer this unique way to participate by inviting you to become a Suite Sponsor. Here are the options for becoming a monthly Suite Sponsor:
The names of our sponsorship levels were selected based on the uniquely intimate relationship each of these writers had with his or her living/writing space.
Henry David Thoreau Sponsor: For a pledge of $10 to $49 per month for 12 months—Thoreau sponsors receive two tickets to attend the Annual Summer Suite Sponsor Soiree.
Emily Dickinson Sponsor: For a pledge of $50 to $99 per month for 12 months—Dickinson sponsors receive two tickets to attend the Annual Summer Suite Sponsor Soiree and one copy of our annually published chapbook of residents’ work.
Virginia Woolf Sponsor: For a pledge of $100 or more per month for 12 months—Woolf sponsors receive two tickets to attend the Annual Summer Suite Sponsor Soiree, one copy of our annually published chapbook of residents’ work, and free enrollment in one class that you may attend or opt to donate to the scholarship pool. Patrons who give one-time donations of $1000 or more receive the same benefits as Woolf sponsors.
*All online donations registered for a year or more are automatically considered Suite Sponsor Donations.
Volunteer Your Time or Skills
There is more than one way to donate to Casa Libre if you want to help and are not in a position to provide funding; you can offer your time and talent. There are many needs still waiting to be filled. If you are a writing teacher, lawyer, business accountant, poet, gardener, carpenter, non-profit consulting agent or have another valuable service you can share with us—just email us or call, and we'll work with your schedule to set things up.Single (One-time) Donations
Casa Libre is legally incorporated in the state of Arizona as a non-profit, and is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity organization.
